Your colors

Enter a hex code, or tap a swatch to pick a color.

PNG and SVG support transparency. JPG uses your background color.

Changes the outer ring of all three corner eyes. Their centers stay square.

The outer border sits beyond the four-module safe margin.

04Error recovery

Auto uses the highest recovery level that fits the smallest QR grid.

Sizes show QR grid dimensions in modules, before the safe margin. Or select a recovery level manually.

Print size & scan distance Plan a print

Estimate a size or distance for this exact QR code. Real-world results vary by camera, lighting, angle, and print quality.

Print width means the whole downloaded square, including its quiet zone and any decorative border. Keep the image square and do not crop its margins.

Approximate scan distance
Illustrative use guidance, not a tested scanning range.

An estimate, not a guaranteed range. Print a sample and test it at the intended distance with several phones. Focus limits, motion, glare, and scanner software are not modeled.

Camera assumptions & how it works

These starting values are illustrative, not measured from your device. No camera access is used. Use the image actually passed to the decoder after resizing or cropping, not the camera’s advertised megapixels.

Width and field of view must describe the same decoder image. The model assumes a centered, face-on, flat code with enough vertical space to fit the full image. It does not model close-focus limits or digital zoom.

Higher pixel targets give a shorter estimated distance or a larger print. The default 4 is an example, not a universal scanner requirement. Even 2 pixels per module, a published minimum guideline, does not guarantee decoding.

The model projects each physical module into the decoder image: focal length in pixels = image width ÷ (2 × tan(field of view ÷ 2)); distance = focal length × physical module width ÷ target pixels per module. Print size reverses this calculation. Grid size comes from your generated QR, including its recovery setting.

The four-module quiet zone is included. SVG uses its exact grid and border dimensions. PNG and JPG use the actual module size within the 1024 px export, including extra padding from pixel alignment. This calculation does not change your download.
